Interior Designer’s Notes
BEFORE PICTURE
A lovely family of four decides it is time to expand family living to their lower level, which allows their teenage children to have their own space. Moving video gaming and toys downstairs transforms the main living space into a more grown-up version of a family room and kitchen, along with the only bathroom on this floor. Relaxation and tranquility are what the couple was seeking at our initial meeting. The color blue implies calmness, a perfect response to their request, but the interior is also infused with the color red, which signifies honor to the English gentleman and his wife.
The collection of furniture pieces they owned and have collected over the years was all moving to the basement, which allowed for a complete renovation with all new pieces. The kitchen was outdated, cabinets were falling apart, and the flow of the work area was insufficient. We had a limited budget for cabinetry, but we had plenty of options to choose from to achieve a beautiful and functional kitchen.
